Quentin

I work out of a small studio/foundry in Suffolk making brass and bronze sounding bowls and bronze sculptures. I spent my formative years in the Far East and it was whilst there that I first heard the tonal quality of a large Asian temple bell. It was deeply affecting and it is a feeling memory that I have carried  ever since. Whilst my personal inclinations may be eastwards, I am aware of the pitfalls of cultural mis-appropriation in the field of sounding bowls and do not presume to be of any particular tradition.

In wanting to expand my horizons and creativity, my sculpting follows on from this initial bronze work and similarly pursues my interest in ancient rite objects and mark making.

Whilst primarily self-taught, I am continually indebted to the generous help and encouragement of fellow artists and craftspeople.
